As a representative of the new generation of martensitic heat-resistant steel, P92 alloy seamless steel pipes achieve top-level material properties for power plant steels. The steel grade of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes utilizes a unique strengthening mechanism through precise control of the proportions of key elements such as chromium (8.5-9.5%), molybdenum (0.3-0.6%), and tungsten (1.5-1.8%). In particular, the innovative formula that increases the molybdenum equivalent (Mo+0.5W) to approximately 1.5% significantly improves the high-temperature creep rupture strength of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes by 20% compared to traditional P91 materials. The allowable design stress of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes at 600℃ can reach 128MPa. The microstructure of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes exhibits a typical tempered martensitic structure with grain size controlled within the range of 5-8, ensuring the stability of the material during long-term high-temperature service.

First, the production process and quality control of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes.
The production process of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes represents the highest level of current heat-resistant steel manufacturing. The smelting process employs a triple purification process of electric arc furnace + LF refining + VD vacuum degassing, strictly controlling the content of harmful elements such as sulfur and phosphorus to ultra-low levels of ≤0.005% and 0.015%, respectively. The hot working stage of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes requires 12 passes of precision rolling within a temperature range of 1150-1200℃, followed by a composite heat treatment process of normalizing at 1040±10℃ and tempering at 760-780℃. Leading domestic manufacturers have achieved full-specification production capacity covering Φ89-Φ813. All P92 alloy seamless steel pipes must undergo 100% ultrasonic flaw detection and eddy current testing for dual quality control, ensuring a defect detection rate of over 99.9%.

Second, the performance advantages and application areas of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes.
The most significant advantage of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes lies in their superior high-temperature performance. Under long-term service conditions at 600℃, the creep strength of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes is ≥100MPa; even under more demanding conditions of 620℃/30MPa, they maintain excellent performance. Regarding mechanical strength, P92 alloy seamless steel pipes have a room temperature tensile strength of≥620MPa and a yield strength of≥440MPa, fully meeting the requirements of ASME SA335 standards. Particularly noteworthy is that the impact energy retention rate of welded joints of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes still exceeds 85% after 30,000 hours of operation at 590℃, a figure that fully demonstrates the long-term reliability of the material.

Third, the main application areas of P92 alloy seamless steel pipes. include: Power industry: Particularly suitable for the main steam piping system of 1000MW ultra-supercritical units, with a single unit usage of up to 800 tons. Petrochemical industry: Used in high-temperature and high-pressure systems such as hydrogenation reactor piping and pyrolysis furnace tubes. Nuclear power industry: Performs excellently in the secondary side piping systems of third-generation nuclear power plants such as AP1000. Boiler manufacturing: Widely used in key pressure-bearing components such as headers, superheaters, and reheaters.
